TRAGEDY struck on Monday, March 10, 2025 when a man identified as Pastor Victor Okoh allegedly macheted his wife, Mrs Victoria Okoh to death over suspicion of cheating on him.
The suspect, Victor Okoh, aged 42, was arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command following a distress call by shocked neighbours. Officers arrived at their residence around 5:20 am to meet a gruesome scene — the mutilated body of his wife, Victoria Okoh (38), lying in front of their home.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect attacked his wife with a machete, in what many described as an unprovoked and barbaric act. In a failed attempt to escape justice, the pastor was found hiding in the ceiling of the house, but was swiftly apprehended by the police.
According to Amebo Kwara, despite pleadings by the neighbours, he refused to open the door until he finished butchering his wife.

“Pastor Victor Okoh of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Oron Akwa Ibom has butchered his wife Victoria.
The pastor was at the pulpit yesterday preaching.
According to reports, on Monday, the 10th of March, Mrs. Victoria Okoh was killed by her husband. Despite all the pleading and begging from his tenants and neighbors, he refused to listen to anyone and refused to open his door until he made sure his wife was no longer breathing.
He said his wife was cheating on him.”
Press Release by the Akwa Ibom Police Command Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John reads,
“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command arrested one Victor Okoh, ‘m’ 42, for the alleged gruesome murder of his wife, Victoria Okoh, ‘f’, 38, at their residence.
At about 05:20hrs, operatives of the Command swiftly responded to a distress call from concerned residents. On arrival at the scene, officers discovered the mutilated body of the deceased lying outside the house she shared with her husband.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had allegedly attacked his wife with a machete over accusations of infidelity.
Further reports indicated that the suspect was hiding in the ceiling of the house in an attempt to evade arrest. The operatives tactically secured the building, forced entry, and successfully apprehended him.
The machete used in committing the crime was recovered by the police and Photographs of the scene was taken for investigation purposes.
The corpse has been deposited at the General Hospital Morgue for an autopsy, while the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, has condemned the act in its entirety and assured the public that justice will take its full course. He further warned against all forms of domestic violence and called on residents to seek lawful means of resolving disputes rather than resorting to violence.
The Command remains committed to ensuring the safety of all citizens and urges the public to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police formation.”
