IN a turn of event, the Presiding Judge of the Ikirun High Court has formally withdrawn from further adjudication on the case instituted by the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), represented by Ogungbangbe, challenging the legality of the recently elected Local Government Chairmen and councillors under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State.

Delivering his ruling today, May 8th, 2025, the judge ordered that the case be returned to the Chief Judge of Osun State for reassignment to a new judge, effectively stepping aside from the matter.

This decision marks a turning point in the legal tussle that has drawn significant public and political attention across the state. It also clears a temporary path for the continued recognition of the elected council chairmen and councillors, pending further judicial reassignment and proceedings.

Reacting to the development, APC supporters and local government stakeholders have expressed gratitude and optimism, describing the ruling as a victory for due process and the rule of law.

To God be the glory. This is a welcome development. We remain confident in the judiciary and committed to the mandate given to our elected officials by the people,” a party spokesperson stated.

Further updates are expected as the case is reassigned and a new hearing date is set.
