The Osun Online Media Practitioners Association (OOMPA) on Saturday, February 15, 2020 carried out its formal handover after a free and fair election that ushered in Jare Ismail Tiamiyu as the new Chairman to steer the ship of the association for the next two years.

Jare who is the Publisher of Insight News took over from Adesoji Omosebi, the publisher and Editor-in-Chief of SOJ WORLDWIDE ONLINE NEWS in a modest handover ceremony held at the NUJ PRESS CENTRE, Osogbo.

SOJ WORLDWIDE succeeded Ayobami Agboola Publisher of City Mirror.

My Distinguished Special Guests of this special occasion, The Chairman-Elect, Jare Tiamiyu who will be taking over from me anytime from now, all outgoing members of Executives of OOMPA, My Senior Colleagues (Aminat Alake Publisher of Amiloaded Media Hub, Primus Expressions and Ayobami Agboola) distinguished members of OOMPA, friends of this unique association, I welcome you to our first inauguration of our new elected executives today.

First and foremost, I give all Glory to Almighty God that made today’s handover a reality and in peaceful atmosphere.

The outgoing Excos in which the Chairman Elect was an active member as a Secretary have gone a long way but we still have “many rivers to cross”.

It should be noted according to the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, government is a ‘continuum’ which literarily means this new administration to be sworn-in today is a continuity of the outgoing administration.

We have come a long way in the past two years to get to where are today.

I am delighted to inform you that we have built an institution on which this incoming executive can build on. We have visited some important stakeholders, we still have many more to be visited to identify with us. We have also put some structures in place that will sustain us in many years to come.

I will enjoin my successor to be calm and calculative in decision making, to be just and fair to all members, to carry all members along, to be transparent, to respect the constitution of the association, to be vigilant, to be accountable, to be professional and instil professionalism in all members.

This association is not a stooge of any political party or politician, we should maintain our watchword and Slogan: Professionalism and Credibility. We must not allow any political party or politician hijack our association.

We should be apolitical, balance and neutral in our reportage.

For us to maintain our credibility we should be professional no matter the situation we found ourselves.

To all our members, we need more of your cooperation more than ever before to Jare led Excos. We need more of your team spirit at this time when the system is no longer tolerant with the media especially the Online Media Practitioners.
