ABUJA — A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court sitting in Apo, Abuja, has granted the final forfeiture of a string of high-value assets linked to businesswoman Ms Aisha Achimugu to the federal government. Consequently, the socialite loses claim to jewellery, exotic cars, and cash that investigators had traced to her.
According to court documents, the forfeited assets include jewellery worth N4,645,170,294.09 (Four Billion, Six Hundred and Forty-Five Million, One Hundred and Seventy Thousand, Two Hundred and Ninety-Four Naira, Nine Kobo). In addition, the court ordered the forfeiture of eleven exotic cars valued at N4,293,000,000 (Four Billion, Two Hundred and Ninety-Three Million Naira). Furthermore, the ruling covers $50,000 (Fifty Thousand United States Dollars) and N30,000,000 (Thirty Million Naira) in cash.

Justice Jude Onwugbuzie delivered the judgment on Thursday, July 16, 2026, ruling on an application for final forfeiture filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). In doing so, the court effectively transferred ownership of the properties to the federal government, closing out the forfeiture proceedings against the assets.
The EFCC had earlier secured an interim forfeiture order over the same assets before returning to court to press for a final order. Since nobody came forward to satisfactorily explain the lawful source of the properties, the court proceeded to make the forfeiture permanent, in line with the provisions of Nigeria’s anti-corruption laws.
This latest ruling adds to a growing list of forfeiture actions the EFCC has pursued against Achimugu and her associated companies in recent months, as the commission continues to press its case that several of her assets amount to proceeds of unlawful activity. Notably, a Federal High Court had, in a separate case, also ordered the final forfeiture of $13 million linked to her firm, Oceangate Engineering Oil & Gas Ltd.
As of the time of this report, neither Achimugu nor her legal representatives had issued a public reaction to Thursday’s ruling. Meanwhile, the EFCC is yet to release an official statement quoting its position on the judgment. Sojworldnews will provide updates, including reactions from both sides, as they become available.
