Buhari cabal Emefiele tenure allegation — A political commentator and author of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s biography, Charles Omole, has alleged that a powerful cabal allegedly pressured Buhari into granting former Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, a second term in office.

Speaking during an interview monitored by SOJ WORLDWIDE, Omole claimed that the late businessman and political associate, Isa Funtua, allegedly played a major role in influencing decisions around the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

According to him, the alleged arrangement gave Funtua enormous influence over the apex bank’s operations, especially in the area of foreign exchange allocation.

“The cabal led by Funtua forced Buhari to give Emefiele another term. Unknown to Buhari, they had a deal with Emefiele which made Funtua the defacto CBN Governor. Funtua also had access to unlimited amount of FOREX,” Omole alleged.

Furthermore, Omole stated that Buhari allegedly remained unaware of the full extent of the arrangement during his administration. He also suggested that some influential figures around the presidency controlled key economic decisions behind the scenes.

Meanwhile, the allegations have continued to generate reactions on social media, with many Nigerians debating the level of influence allegedly wielded by powerful political associates during the Buhari administration.

However, neither the late Isa Funtua’s family nor associates of former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele have officially responded to the claims as of the time of filing this report.
