Christopher Musa General Oseni Braimah — The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting families of military personnel who died in active service.

General Musa made the pledge while receiving Mr. Hassan Braimah, brother of the late Brigadier General Oseni Omoh Braimah, at the Ministry of Defence in Abuja.

Late Brigadier General Oseni Braimah was a respected Infantry Officer of the Nigerian Army. He died in the line of duty at Benisheikh on April 9, 2026.

Before his death, he served as Commander of the 29 Task Force Brigade.

The Nigerian Army buried him with full military honours at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri on April 15, 2026.

Seven other personnel who also died in active service were buried alongside him.

During the visit, Hassan Braimah recalled the dedication and patriotism of his late brother. He described the late senior officer as a committed soldier who devoted his life to defending Nigeria.

“My brother lived for the service of this country. Even in difficult times, he remained committed to protecting Nigerians,” Hassan Braimah said.

He also thanked the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence for supporting the family after the tragic loss.

Furthermore, he assured the Minister that the family would continue to support the loved ones left behind by the late Brigadier General.

Responding, General Musa conveyed the condolences of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the bereaved family.

“The Armed Forces will never abandon the families of those who lay down their lives for this country,” the Defence Minister stated.

“We remain committed to providing assistance, care, and direct access to the Ministry whenever needed,” he added.

The Minister also stressed that the sacrifices of fallen heroes would never be forgotten.

He noted that the nation owes a lasting debt of gratitude to military personnel who risk their lives to defend Nigeria’s territorial integrity and national security.

The visit highlighted the Ministry’s open-door policy. It also showed its determination to maintain close contact with families of fallen servicemen.

Meanwhile, stakeholders at the meeting commended the courage and sacrifice of the late Brigadier General Oseni Braimah and other military personnel who died while protecting the country.

The Ministry reiterated its resolve to preserve the legacy of fallen heroes. It also pledged continued welfare and support for their families.
