THE National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has issued a stern warning to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the Publisher of Sahara Reporters Omoyele Sowore for meddling in the affairs of the Student Union.
The warning, in a Press Release was signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Union, Comrade Samson Ajasa Adeyemi, he condemned the coordinated attacks on the union by the duo of Atiku and Sowore.
He threatened that the student body will declare Abubakar Atiku a persona non grata within the university community if he persist in the affairs of the student Union body.
“A WARNING TO ALHAJI ATIKU ABUBAKAR AND OMOYELE SOWORE*
The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) under the Comrade Olushola Oladoja administration wishes to categorically condemn the ongoing coordinated attack aimed at destabilizing our noble association. It has come to our attention that certain elements, acting under the influence and sponsorship of former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and Mr. Omoyele Sowore, are actively involved in sowing seeds of discord within NANS.

Our particular concern is the role of one Atiku Abubakar Isah, a known cousin of the former Vice President, who has been heavily funded and supported to stir factional issues in our ranks. This divisive pattern of political interference is consistent with previous attempts by these individuals to hijack student platforms to drive personal or political agendas, especially as general elections approach.
We are aware of recent clandestine meetings between Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his cousin, Atiku Isah, with the clear objective of infiltrating and destabilizing the student movement. This unacceptable meddling in student affairs is a direct threat to the unity and independence of NANS.
Let it be known that NANS is not and will never be an appendage of any political party, personality, or coalition. Our campuses are not breeding grounds for anti-democratic manipulation, nor will we allow our collective voice to be hijacked by any political desperado.
We issue this stern warning: Alhaji Atiku Abubakar should call his family members and political associates to order and steer clear of the affairs of NANS. Should this meddling persist, we will not hesitate to mobilize a nationwide protest across campuses, declaring his personality *persona non grata* within the Nigerian student community.
We equally call on the Nigerian public, the media, and relevant security agencies to take note of these acts of subversion and stand with Nigerian students in preserving the independence and sanctity of our association.”
It will be recalled that VP Atiku Abubakar had earlier issued a Press Release through his spokesperson, Paul Ibe monitored by SOJ WORLDWIDE on his official x.com Page.
“The serious allegations made by the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Atiku Isah — alleging physical assault, abduction, and inducement at the hands of Seyi Tinubu — are deeply alarming and strike at the core of democratic norms and civil liberty.
That such grave accusations are being levelled against a member of the first family is both disturbing and dangerous.
Had this incident ended fatally, it would have been recorded among the growing list of atrocities committed by criminal elements in the country.
That it is allegedly tied to the President’s own son makes it even more horrifying. What’s worse is the emerging suggestion that even top security officials are not beyond Seyi Tinubu’s overreaching influence — an unacceptable compromise of state institutions.
It is intolerable that the first family would seek to subjugate the NANS — or any civil society group — through threats, bribes, or brute force. Nigeria is a democratic republic, not a monarchy handed down to one family. Well-meaning Nigerians must rise to speak out.

The actions of the President’s family — specifically their rabid drive to consolidate political power through manipulation and fear — must be condemned unequivocally.
We must remind them that the presidency is a public trust, not a private inheritance. Attempts to drag former Vice President Atiku Abubakar into this scandal by alleging a political alliance with Comrade Isah are baseless, malicious, and desperate.
Atiku Abubakar’s meeting with Isah was centered solely on education reform and improving student welfare, which also includes institutions he founded, like the American University of Nigeria and AUN Academy. Comrade Isah’s advocacy and public stance must be evaluated based on fact, not fiction.
The allegations of abuse he has made demand an independent investigation, especially since the very agencies meant to protect citizens appear complicit in his ordeal.
We issue a clear warning: nothing must happen to this young man. Any harm to him will not go unnoticed or unchallenged. Nigerians deserve truth, accountability, and a leadership that respects the rule of law — not a regime that weaponizes power to silence dissent.”
