About the Nigerian Navy
The Nigerian Navy is the naval arm of the Nigerian Armed Forces. It is responsible for defending Nigeria’s territorial waters and protecting its maritime interests, including securing sea lanes, fighting piracy, oil theft and other crimes at sea, and supporting national security operations. Founded in 1956 as the Royal Nigerian Navy, it took its present name in 1963.

Requirements
✓ | Must be a Nigerian citizen by birth with a National Identification Number (NIN) |
✓ | Applicants with O’Level/SSCE results must be between 18 and 22 years as at December 31, 2026 |
✓ | At least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in not more than two sittings |
✓ | Minimum height of 1.69m for males and 1.65m for females |
✓ | Must be medically, psychologically and physically fit |
✓ | Must have no previous criminal conviction by a court of law |
✓ | Must be able to communicate in basic English; failure to do so leads to disqualification at any stage |
What Happens Next
✓ | Successful applicants will undergo basic military training |
✓ | After training, they will be recruited into the Nigerian Navy as Ordinary Seamen |
✓ | The date and venues for the recruitment examination will be announced later |
