Scores of bandits killed in Zamfara ZAMFARA, NIGERIA – Scores of suspected bandits were reportedly killed on Tuesday after security forces, working alongside local vigilantes, repelled an attack on Dogon Kade in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

According to local security sources, one of those killed was identified as Tukur Bagiwaye, who was said to be the younger brother of the notorious bandit kingpin, Kachalla Shehu Bagiwaye.

The sources said the bandits launched the attack on Dogon Kade in the early hours of Tuesday. However, security personnel, supported by members of the local vigilante group, responded quickly and engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle.

“The security forces, in collaboration with local vigilantes, successfully repelled the attack and inflicted heavy casualties on the bandits,” a security source said.

“Among those reportedly killed was Tukur Bagiwaye, the junior brother of the notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Shehu Bagiwaye,” the source added.

Meanwhile, residents said the joint operation forced the remaining attackers to flee after suffering significant losses. They also praised the coordinated efforts of the security forces and the local vigilantes for preventing what could have resulted in widespread destruction.

However, authorities have yet to issue an official statement confirming the reported casualty figures or the identities of those killed.

The latest operation comes as security agencies continue their campaign against armed bandit groups operating across Zamfara State and other parts of Nigeria’s North-West region.
