UPDATE: Oyetola Orders Withdrawal Of Charges Against Alleged Carrier Of Fake News In Osun

The State of Osun Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola has ordered the withdrawal of charges against a member of the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Saheed Akinloye over alleged fake news on Facebook on COVID-19 in the state, Insight links Online reported.

It was gathered that State Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, directed the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr Femi Akande, and the Prosecutor-General in the Ministry of Justice to withdraw the case.

The Governor was said to have ordered an unconditional release of Akinloye.

Unconfirmed sources claimed that Akinloye had shown remorse over the allegation of inciting the people of the state against the government, of which he pleaded not guilty to in court.

Akinloye had accused the state government of importing COVID-19 patients into the state in order to get fund from the Federal Government.

Akinloye was dragged before an Osogbo Magistrate’s Court on Monday and the court denied him bail and ordered his remand.
