Wike allies win APC House of Reps tickets — Key political allies of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, have emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary elections conducted across Rivers State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Among the major winners is the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, who clinched the APC ticket for Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency I after emerging unopposed with 17,968 votes.
The APC primaries, which took place across the state’s 13 federal constituencies, further strengthened Wike’s political structure amid the ongoing rivalry between his camp and supporters of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

- Fredrick Apiafi — Andoni/Opobo-Nkoro Federal Constituency
- Chibuzor Nwamaka — Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency
- Joy Nyebuchi — Ikwerre/Emuoha Federal Constituency
- Linda Steward — Okrika/Ogu-Bolo Federal Constituency
- Solomon Bob — Abua/Odual/Ahoada East Federal Constituency
Speaking after the exercise, Chairman of the APC House of Representatives Primary Election Committee in Rivers State, Wahab Owokoniran, described the primaries as peaceful and transparent.

“We want to let the whole world know that the election was conducted in a very peaceful atmosphere. There was neither rancour nor infighting,” he stated.
Meanwhile, supporters of the victorious candidates celebrated across several parts of Rivers State, expressing confidence that the APC would perform strongly in the 2027 elections.
Political analysts believe the emergence of Wike’s loyalists further confirms the former Rivers governor’s continued influence within the state’s political structure.
In addition, observers noted that many of the successful candidates are linked to Wike’s “Rainbow Coalition,” a political alliance believed to be positioning itself strongly ahead of the next general elections.
Although opposition voices have raised concerns over alleged political dominance, APC leaders insisted that delegates freely chose their preferred candidates during the primaries.
The latest development comes as political realignments continue to intensify in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 electoral battle.
