Desmond Elliot apologises to Gbajabiamila — Popular Nollywood actor-turned-politician, Desmond Elliot, has publicly apologised to Femi Gbajabiamila over allegations linking him to the failed impeachment attempt against Mudashiru Obasa.
Elliot, who represents Surulere Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, made the emotional apology during an appearance on TVC’s “Let’s Talk” programme on Friday.
His remarks came barely 24 hours after Gbajabiamila revealed that he almost lost his position as Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the leadership crisis that rocked the Lagos Assembly last year.
Speaking during the interview, Elliot described Gbajabiamila as his political mentor and someone he deeply respects.
“I know the media will come out and say, ‘Eh, Desmond begs again.’ Yes, because he’s my egbon, and I grew up learning everything I know in politics through him,” Elliot said.
The lawmaker also denied taking part in any move to remove Obasa as speaker, insisting that his actions were misunderstood during the political tension.

“I’m sorry, Daddy, if I offended you in any way. That was never my intention,” he added.
Furthermore, Elliot explained that loyalty and respect remain important values in his political journey. According to him, Gbajabiamila played a major role in shaping his political career and guiding him through public service.
The controversy surrounding the alleged impeachment plot against Obasa created political tension within the Lagos Assembly and reportedly strained relationships among influential political figures in the state.
Meanwhile, Gbajabiamila had earlier disclosed that the crisis nearly cost him his job as Chief of Staff to the President, highlighting the seriousness of the internal political battle.
Desmond Elliot’s latest apology has since generated reactions across social media, with many Nigerians debating loyalty, mentorship, and political alliances within Lagos politics.
