Aare Akinkunmi Akinyemi PDP Appeal Court Victory IBADAN, June 3, 2026 – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Ibadan South East/Ibadan North East Federal Constituency, Aare Akinkunmi Akinyemi, has expressed joy and satisfaction over the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Abuja, which dismissed the appeal filed by the Turaki Group against the earlier ruling of the Federal High Court (FHC), Ibadan.
Akinyemi described the judgment as a victory for democracy, the rule of law, and the unity of the Peoples Democratic Party.
In a statement issued shortly after the verdict, the PDP federal constituency candidate congratulated the party’s national leadership, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, H.E. Nyesom Wike, the National Chairman, Abdulrahman, the National Secretary, Senator Sam Anyanwu, members of the National Working Committee (NWC), and millions of loyal PDP supporters across the country.

“I rejoice with our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party, and congratulate our respected leaders for this important legal victory. This judgment has once again reaffirmed the supremacy of due process and the rule of law within our party,” Akinyemi said.
The Court of Appeal, Abuja, in a unanimous decision delivered on June 3, 2026, dismissed the appeal filed by the Turaki Group, describing it as “academic” and stating that it raised no live issue for determination.
The appellate court upheld the position of the Federal High Court in Ibadan, which had earlier refused to recognise the executive committee that emerged from the Ibadan convention organised by the Turaki Group. The lower court had also affirmed the legitimacy of the Abdulrahman-led Caretaker Committee.
Akinyemi noted that the judgment should put an end to internal disputes capable of distracting the party from its core responsibility of providing credible opposition and preparing for future electoral victories.

“This is a time for reconciliation, unity, and renewed commitment to the ideals of the PDP. Our focus should now be on strengthening the party at all levels and working together to deliver good governance to Nigerians,” he added.
He urged party members across the federation to remain steadfast, loyal, and committed to the collective aspirations of the PDP.
The federal constituency hopeful also thanked party supporters for their patience and unwavering belief in the leadership of the party throughout the legal process.
According to him, the judgment provides another opportunity for all stakeholders to close ranks and work together in the overall interest of the PDP and Nigeria’s democracy.
The Court of Appeal ruling marks another significant development in the ongoing efforts to stabilise the party’s leadership structure ahead of future political activities and elections.
