IREE Progressive Association, IPA on Saturday, January 18, 2025 inaugurated its new executives that took over from immediate past Exco headed by its President, Aare/Engr. Oluwole Taiwo.

The event took place at the S.M. Afolabi Hall at the centre of Iree, Boripe Local Government Area, Osun State.

The outgoing Chairman, Engr. Oluwole Taiwo in his interview with SOJ WORLDWIDE said his team spent six years and six months at a time the Town had no king making it a tough terrain especially at the initial stage.

He said he was lucky because his team had the cooperation of the elders especially the Chief Imam when they had no king. “We were able to achieve what we were able to achieve as a result of the cooperation of all.”

He added that his team were able to restore trust, peace within the city and with the assistance of prominent people they were able to achieve milestone during their tenure.

While speaking with SOJ WORLDWIDE, the new President Pastor Tunde Kajogbola said the mantle of leadership fell on him when he least expected.

When asked how he feels after his inauguration as the new President of Iree Progressive Association, IPA

I felt good, I felt challenged, disturbed and reenergized.  It is difficult to reconcile these different words, I really feel good, it is a call to service, I felt challenged because the team that has just left did exceptionally well. I felt disturbed because I know not at this stage I don’t know how to start but the Lord is there for us. He will give us the grace to succeed.”

About his plans,

Our greatest plan is to do that which God will give us the Grace to do. The Lord is there for us. We intend to build on the solid foundation the past exco has been able to build. We intend to build new projects.  Our expectation is to do good, to excel and to succeed and we shall!”

Inaugural Remarks by the President of IPA, Pastor Tunde Kajogbola

In August 2024, when the winds of destiny ushered me into this leadership role, shock was the word that enveloped me and summarised my disbelief. It was an unexpected honour, akin to a coup de de-tat, a dramatic twist of fate that left me speechless.

Why?: I had dedicated my humble energy to rallying others better-qualified than myself for the assignment.

Now, per grace, I stand before you as your president. Imagine!

This moment is not just about me. Again, it’s not just about us in the new IPA EXCO….Rather, it is about us—a collective journey of faith, purpose, and progress.

It is about Iree, a blessed valley-community cradled by ancient mountains, rocks, and hills that still whisper the living stories told and retold by our legendary forefathers.

Our heritage is not merely a treasure but a call to action, urging us to soar higher than our forefathers ever dreamed.

Today, we stand tall because we are supported by the pillars of our past.

We owe an immense debt of gratitude to our predecessors, whose groundwork serves as the springboard for our aspirations.

To the immediate past leadership under Aare/Engr. Oluwole Taiwo, we salute and stand in awe of your dedication and achievements.

The sustainable milestones you achieved remind us that the strength of a team lies in its unity.

To every individual, family, and sector that contributed to these successes, we say, *”Thank you.”*

As I sat in quiet reflection at dawn yesterday, a thought illuminated my mind:
*“No one achieves much alone; no team loses much together.”* (Quote; mine)

This profound truth underscores our present shared mission.

Together, as the United Nation of Iree (UNI), we have the potential to transform challenges into triumphs, sweat into celebration, and dreams into reality. We are not merely inhabitants of this land; we are its stewards, entrusted with a sacred duty to uplift and empower.

Our agenda is clear: “to build a commonwealth of initiatives and engagements that will benefit every member of our community. This is not the responsibility of one person or one executive council—it is the collective charge of all Iree sons and daughters, bound by a shared vision.”

With humility and determination, therefore, I, Pastor Tunde Kajogbola of Ile Balogun-Gudugba, Oju-Oja, Iree, alongside the newly inaugurated IPA Executive Council, accept this enormous responsibility. Under the charge of this sacred trust, I pledge:

To uphold the principles of integrity, accountability, and service.

*To promote unity and inclusivity, ensuring that every voice is heard and every hand contributes.

To champion sustainable development, leveraging the resources of Iree for the benefit of all.

Our journey will not be without challenges. There will be hills to climb and storms to weather, but with faith in GOD, the ALMIGHTY, and the support of our people, we shall overcome. Together, we shall transform Iree into a city of progress and proof to the power of collective action.

Let us, therefore, rise to this occasion with renewed vigour and resolve. Let us build bridges where there are gaps, mend fences where there are divides, and plant seeds of hope where there is despair.

To the youth, you are the heartbeat of our community. Your energy and innovation are the engines of our progress. To the elders, your wisdom is our compass, guiding us toward a brighter future. To our partners and friends, your contributions remind us that progress knows no boundaries.”
