Battujo terrorist family sentenced — A Federal High Court has sentenced the mother and sister of late terrorist kingpin Battujo to 40 years imprisonment each after finding them guilty of supporting and participating in terrorist activities linked to the notorious insurgent.

According to court proceedings, both women knowingly aided the activities of Battujo despite being fully aware of his involvement in terrorism and other violent crimes. Prosecutors argued that they not only had knowledge of his operations but also actively participated in activities that supported his criminal network.

Delivering judgment, the court held that the prosecution successfully proved its case beyond reasonable doubt, leading to the conviction and sentencing of the two defendants.

“The evidence before this court clearly established that the convicts were aware of the terrorist activities being carried out and played roles that aided the operations of the group,” the judge stated.

The court further noted that age could not serve as a shield against accountability when individuals willingly engage in acts that threaten national security and endanger innocent lives.

Furthermore, prosecutors told the court that the women maintained close links with the terrorist network and continued to provide support despite being aware of the devastating consequences of the group’s actions on communities and security personnel.

“The law must take its course against anyone who knowingly supports terrorism, regardless of family ties or personal relationships,” a prosecution source said after the judgment.

Meanwhile, security experts have described the ruling as a strong message that authorities will pursue not only terrorist leaders but also those who assist, finance, shelter, or facilitate their operations.

In addition, analysts believe the judgment reinforces the government’s determination to dismantle terror networks by targeting every individual involved in sustaining their activities.
