Effurun extrajudicial killing – Fresh outrage has erupted in Delta State following the alleged extrajudicial killing of a yet-to-be-identified young man in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area.

Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu raised the alarm, alleging that a police officer identified as Usman Nuhu, attached to the Area Command in Effurun, was directly involved in the fatal incident alongside other officers.

“There are strong indications of an ongoing cover-up. It is important that all responsible parties are identified and held accountable to ensure justice is served and to put an end to extrajudicial killings,” Gwamnishu stated.

Sources familiar with the matter say Usman Nuhu is not new to controversy. He was previously attached to the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), and later the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), where multiple allegations of brutality and extrajudicial actions were reportedly made against him.
