Supreme Court Sends David Mark – The Supreme Court of Nigeria has directed the leadership case involving the African Democratic Congress (ADC) back to the Federal High Court for fresh hearing.
The ruling affects the faction led by former Senate President David Mark, as the apex court voided the earlier status quo order in the dispute.
In its decision, the court emphasized that lower courts must first determine the substantive issues before higher judicial intervention.
The justices stated: “All issues relating to party leadership must first be resolved at the trial court level.”

Furthermore, the court held that appellate intervention without full trial findings undermines judicial procedure and due process.
Consequently, it ordered all parties to return to the Federal High Court for proper determination of the leadership conflict within ADC.
The development adds a new layer to the ongoing internal crisis in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), as factions continue to contest control of the party structure.
Meanwhile, political observers say the ruling may delay final resolution but strengthens procedural fairness within Nigeria’s democratic framework.
